⚡ Germany's top economists' council concluded: Battery Electric Trucks are a #noregrets strategy for the future. And we could not agree more. Here's our report. ⚡ Our joint research project NEFTON releases its own report on the electrification of road freight transport today. It includes guidelines on the future technologies in electric trucks and megawatt charging infrastructure. Furthermore, our experts take a look into the ecosystem that will be built up in the next decade, and provide insights on the transition towards fully electric road transport. The report is based on 20 publications (and counting!) and the best thing is: It's available for free online. (Link in the comments.) Moreover, at our final event on July 19th we will demonstrate the first public Megawatt charging session using the MCS system and discuss it with the leading voices, Frederik Zohm, Monika Schnitzer, Markus Lienkamp, Christoph Pellinger and more on the topic. ❓ Does a speed limit of 30 km/h decrease local emissions? What happens if we close roads to motorized traffic? How much EV-charging infrastructure do we need in the future❓ 🔮 We don’t have a crystal ball but we have the next best thing – traffic simulations. Those facilitate an in-depth analysis of various mobility-related scenarios. However, there are significant challenges: ⚡ Generation of an input population that conducts coherent travel patterns in the simulation ⚡ Using simulation tools like MatSim or Sumo requires a large database and extensive expert knowledge Within the MCube project DatSim, we try to alleviate both of the two mentioned above. The ABIT model, developed by TUM - Associate Professorship of Travel Behavior (TB), delivers activity-based daily plans for the citizens of the metropolitan region of Munich. Our simulation pipeline facilitates the use of mesoscopic and microscopic traffic simulations (MatSim & Sumo) in a graphical interface, facilitates the usage of datasets and prepared scenarios stored in the shared DataHub, and runs remotely in docker containers. This way, offer an easy-to-use but powerful tool to the whole cluster, helping in answering the diverse questions of different stakeholders. Nach dem weltweit ersten spektakulären autonomen Überholmanöver konnte unser Team das 2 Mio$ Rennen in Abu Dhabi gewinnen. Wir hatten im Training viele technische Probleme zu meistern, sind mehrfach von der Strecke geflogen und hatten im ersten Überholmanöver einen Crash. Im Qualifying waren wir richtig schnell, konnten aber aufgrund von technischen Problemen nur vom dritten Platz starten. Wir mussten ein hohes Risiko gehen, fuhren deshalb sofort im Grenzbereich und überholten aggressiv. Das zahlte sich aus und wir konnten kurz vor Schluss an dem führenden Unimore Team in einer engen Kurve vorbeiziehen. Beeindruckend war der gesamte Event mit der Preisverleihung durch den Kronprinzen. Danke an die Organisatoren der A2RL, TII, den anderen Teams, besonders Unimore und Polimove, Tom, meinen Kollegen Boris Lohmann und Johannes Betz und vor allem unserem Team mit Teamleter Simon Hoffman. Ihr wart alle wahnsinnig gut.

Mit Simulationen schaffen wir die Emissionsreduktion im Verkehr nicht. Ob unsere Lösungen rund um MCS Laden für den verlässlichen Einsatz der neuen eTrucks auch auf der Langstrecke funktionieren, müssen wir in der realen Welt testen. 6 Wochen haben wir dafür noch Zeit. Dann werden wir MCS mit 1000 kW demonstrieren. Unsere Ladesäule ist schon nahezu voll bestückt. Jetzt heißt es: Testen, Debuggen, Testen und 1000 kW Laden.
